Holiday Journey from California to Mars

My name is Derek Pelland, I am a graduate student at Pepperdine University in Malibu California. I have experience as an Eagle Scout and U.S. Marine, backed with an extensive university education from the University of Michigan, University of Southern California, and Pepperdine.
I have always wanted to become an astronaut, and now I am working with the Mars Society to operate the Mars Desert Research Station in a simulation habitat. I am the Executive Officer of the Campus Martius Crew, assigned to explore conditions similar to that of Mars. I have been awarded a scholarship that has covered all my expenses minus the participation fee that I am fundraising. I will be living in a Mars Space Habitat in the Desert, conducting research for future manned mission to Mars.
I have left California and moved to the Mars Habitat for Christmas and the Holiday's 2012
